Bored In Bangkok? Have Your Own Gun
![]()
It may not be your average hobby, being a marksman or sharpshooter, but then again: Our excellently trained military officers in Thailand make it possible. Do a course at the shooting range of the Royal Thai Army in Bangkok. Get your own firearms certificate and never ever feel insecure again when you leave for an area where you may be ambushed.
Got that good friend in Bangkok, Canadian, who never ever leaves home without that heavy shiny gun in his pocket. He always gets the latest gadgets and eats at fancy places, but nothing gives him as much satisfaction in Bangkok as carrying his own gun.
“You never know,” he says. Carrying a gun does not only enhance his self-confidence and bless him with a sense of invulnerability. Shooting makes for a great hobby as well. For couples for that. He and his wife have become certified shooters spending their weekends at shooting ranges.
The place in Bangkok where you get your basic lessons and a gun certificate you’ll find on Ramintra 17 passed Rangsit Future Park.
The shooting range of the Royal Thai Army is open every day except Wednesdays from 9 am to 5 pm.
They supply the 357 Mag revolver (but you only shoot .38 rounds) with the course, but you have to buy your rounds at the shooting range.
They have excellent instructors – all officers or special trainers, not privates!
They offer courses for various levels and can even arrange to pick you up.
Students are mainly business owners who seek a more reliable sort of protection.
Some shooting aficionados commit to become a bodyguard, others achieve the highest level and master moving targets and breathing control.
It’s all very well organized and complex at the army’s shooting range – with a bullet costing you the equivalent of a beer at a girlie bar. Outrageous you say?
Enjoy a different kind of adrenaline rush.

You might need to say in your article that the numbers are only answered in Thai and that the shooting is only for club members….
Right, speaking Thai definitively helps.
Bringing along your own gun requires membership, but taking a class?

I overcame the Thai language problem using my secretary
Unfortunately I’m a pistol club member in Australia and lately flying with guns caused all kinds of problems …
Still no local club member no course???

The course is for Thai nationals only.
Are there any other places where you can go and shoot for a few hours (novices) in Bangkok? Where you don’t need your own equipment? Called the above place, they said they didn’t have one day courses, you needed your own gun, and you needed to be a member …
