Detox Revisited

Our early readers may remember our early piece Colonary Treats In Bangkok: Detox Yourself. Well, we’ve done the hard research work again, as it was time for another yearly detox cleanse, I mean, a colonic irrigation. Rejuvenating, to say the least.
You may sniff at it, but it just feels ecstatic having your guts cleaned. You feel lighter, healthier, happier. This time we tested two venues. The upmarket HydroHealth at Erawan – and the more rudimentary Yanhee hospital.
Life in Bangkok can be stressful, tiring, polluting. Sometimes you eat stuff you regret eating the very next minute. And some of this stuff gets stuck right in your innermost. Flush it out. My wife tells me benefits are not medically proven. What do I know. I just feel better.
A session for basically the same thing with basically the same machine will set you back 3,300 baht at HydroHealth. And 800 baht at Yanhee. But it’s not all about money, is it. If aesthetic comfort is your maxime, go HydroHealth.
If you can live with a slightly more basic environment, go Yanhee – where, by the way, people get sex changes and all sorts of cosmetic surgeries done. Well, having seen both worlds, I give Yanhee a clear thumbs up.
At both places they make it a completely unembarrassing experience. The machines at HydroHealth are obviously newer, but you’re kind of fascinated by the more “homey installation” they have at Yanhee.
At HydroHealth you furthermore have to beg for a shot of coffee detox to cleanse your liver. I think the earliest you get it is after six sessions. At Yanhee, once they see you’re familiar with the whole process, they add it with no questions asked.
Me knows, there are many other detox places in Bangkok. The average price for a 45 minutes session is about 2,000 baht. I’d be interested to know which places you recommend.
For the rest, why not give it a try. Get lightened up, it’s as simple as that.
By the way, HydroHealth has a January special – 1,000 baht discount for a first visit. But if for the first time, for maximum benefit do a second session the very day after. They’ll explain you why.
Thanks for the timely heads up after the holidays …
(I haven’t tried it. Just curious … again.)
