Good Lord, Finally, Bangkok’s Smashing Rock Hour

Was nearly in tears this Saturday. Manfred Mann, Sunday Bloody Sunday, Styx …. in Bangkok! On air! It has a name: “On The Rocks.” Seriously, every Saturday from 4 – 7 pm @ 98.5 Good FM brings you rock pure. Your forgotten life becomes alive again. Must hours for rock romantics and connoisseurs of the pre-nonsense era.

You’ll be hooked instantly if the usual mash and blabber keeps you off Bangkok’s airwaves. Couldn’t believe my ears what they bring … Foreigner, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Def Leppard, Grand Funk Railroad’s People Let’s Stop The War, the Stones. The few hard rock tracks are easily forgivable.

You name them, they have them. Felt like resurrected, risen from a cultural coma. Those three hours on Sat afternoon are killer hours. And best, host Wanchai wants your musical requests! Call or send an SMS. One smasher after the other. Found only one other similar program in Thailand, Hua Hin’s 102.50 Surf FM …

Now you can peacefully face a Bangkok weekend without much parties or action. FM 98.5′s three afternoon hours will remunerate abundantly. Seriously, did I say that I’m totally excited. Can’t believe how lucky we are, finally, after all those years … smashing good old world.

This Saturday they even brought – can you believe it – the probably greatest song ever written, Queen’s Bohemian Rapsody.

There’s hope, again, for Bangkok.

Saam cha mohng rock dee dee helps you, lets you forget a lot.

  1. I regularly listen to 102.5 and 107 FM for English music. 99.5 also plays some English as well as other Korean and Japanese songs.

All those bands you mentioned are my favorites which I haven’t heard in a long time! I’ll have to wait for another Saturday then. Thanks!
