"What’s that sound? It’s like ... rustling around ... a rat? ..."

"What’s that smell? That stinks. It’s like ... burning garbage? ..."

Heh.

Apologies Dan, but I did not make it to the end of the show. Chalk it down to a disbelief in things that go bump, along with the need to be honestly entertained. But it was a timely theme, so thanks.

Spirits are often brought up in conversation with the locals. After several plus years here I was curious, so for a potential post I decided to drive around taking photos of the top spirit locations in the BKK area.

It was not easy to arrange.

A friend's driver flat refused to take me around (even though he was under her employment and she wanted to go too). A favorite taxi driver was reluctant. My Thai teacher was alarmed, but from her girlish giggles I could tell that the thought was an attraction for her.

All were scared.

I eventually got what I needed (the friend's driver came on one trip too), but only after I agreed to appease each of the spirits. You see, the fear was that I'd upset the spirits, who would attach themselves to one of us.

Except for the ribbon wrapped, zebra surrounded tree in the middle of the highway, the photos came out fine. Soon after, the driver lost his job when my friend's husband lost his contract in BKK.

So we all got what we wanted. I got my photos. The driver? His beliefs were reinforced.

Heh.

Looks like the paranormal is not taken serious anymore in this Age of Enlightenment.

Looks like ghost hunters become disheartened and disillusioned. Amateurs and misguided notions prevail.

The 21st century ghost hunter longs for the attention of entertainment TV programs. The true spiritualists out there have no place to be heard.

Ghost busting needs furthermore solid background research before the initial investigation.

So there you go Talen! Without being taken serious a ghost remains a ghost.

How does one go about getting a job ghost hunting in Thailand ... I have all the required equipment. Tin foil hats and coat hangers.

While i'm just a tad bit skeptical I love nothing more than being in the middle of a group of Thai women going through a haunted house ... there is nothing quite like it.
