Magic Ice Cream

No, nothing to do with magic mushroom, but expect some tantalizing aphrodisiac side effects if you enjoy the marvelously unique ice creams of Spice Story at Siam Paragon.

They say it’s just ice cream, but hey. With flavors such as Pepper Magic or Hibiscus Plus Jujube Sorbet, you seriously expect they won’t have any healing, if not medical effect?

To make it short: You find most delicious gelato in Bangkok, just to mention the fresh arrival of Mövenpick. But none matches the sophisticated, if not adventurous creations of Spice Story. And they taste as wild as they sound.

You won’t find chocolate or strawberry glacé at Spice Story. But how about some Orange Cinnamon Charm Sorbet? Ginger Milk Tea Ice Cream? My fav. Or Lemon Grass Earth Sorbet? Or Chili Ice Cream!

The store’s backbone are – surprise – spices. High shelves are filled with spices from all over the world. You’ll find fresh vanilla beans, exotic Chinese herbs and – an ideal gift – ready-made Thai curries, such as truly convincing panaeng or massaman curry paste.

Not “mamasan” curry, as a young chap requested when I was recently slurping another scoop of creamy frozen Ginger Milk Tea at Spice Story …

And, who knows, you’ll maybe even experience hallucinating effects. Yes, they got the Green Tea Poppy Love Ice Cream.

Over to you for some real-life experience you’ll only find in Bangkok.

A TTT – Top Thai Thing.

@ Spice Story, ground floor Siam Paragon, opposite Gourmet Market.

    Paid post?

    Surely not my dear.

    We don’t do paid reviews.

We get requests. We don’t do it.

But we do enjoy originality. And do accept invitations. And do love good Bangkok stuff.

As you can easily figure from reading this site, an invitation may well lead to a pretty harsh, but honest assessment.

If you invite me, face the music.

But what is good, is good.

Just trust my taste and you can’t go wrong.

Me gets the feeling though that one is only credible if constantly complaining …

That’s exactly what we don’t want to do at absolutely.

It’s true. The ice cream here is exceptional.

While in the area, pick up some vanilla cream puffs from Beard Papa – not Thai, but superb all the same.

You’re valued as a gourmet Philip – keep them flowing, those insider finds.
