Of Jumbos & Pandas

Things look better again for Thailand. Never mind the red shirts who may set the country ablaze when they hold a rally on June 27th to oust the government.

But Thais can cheer the surprise birth of a panda – that’s quite an achievement for a panda in captivity. But even better. The panda cub is expected to boost Thai tourism.

And that’s not it. With this month’s launch of direct A380 flights between Dubai and Bangkok the Thai tourism gets another shot in the arm. Arrivals from the Middle East are set to rise dramatically.

A newborn pandas and a jumbo as confidence-builders. So little can mean so much.

Why don’t they transform parliament into a giant breeding zoo for rare animals with lots of jumbos and cubs.

With political bickering as a thing of the past peace would soon return, tourism flourish like never before and Thailand regain the respect and confidence that once were.

Emirates must be betting on the future as other global carriers slash Thai-bound flights:

Same goes for the stock market. When everybody else is running away, seize the chance.

Bumrumgrad: The Third Mecca. That should fill up the BKK-bound A380 more than borrowed panda embryos and baby elephants. I hear Malaysia is coveting Thailands successful medical tourism?

Hopefully these things do for tourism what the new Thailand mixed drink did for tourism … what was it’s name again?

I feel sorry for that panda.

    Will it survive the exploitation?
