“R Burger”: Yet Another Japanese Burger Joint

This one is different. You’ve tried them all. And R Burger at Siam Square will still surprise you. As they’re not serving the traditional bread buns. But Chinese-style steamed buns that are fluffier and a whiff sweeter than run-of-the-mill hamburger buns.

And a key ingredient of R Burger’s burgers is Marine Collagen. Go figure. But the burgers don’t taste the way they sound. They’re different and they’re fabulous. Especially the “Maguro Wasabi Mayonnaise Burger” with lots of tuna and healthy DHA.

Right, R Burger is another Japanese Burger joint venture after MOS Fine Burgers‘ phenomenal arrival in the kingdom. R Burger won’t be that successful, as they’re not that mainstream. Nevertheless worth some visits when you’re in the area.

You’ll find R Burger at Siam Square right opposite Siam Paragon. It’s a kind of hip-place. The music may be too loud for your aging ears and the service is kind of overly casual. But hey, we’re not there to compare with Ma Maison.

What you absolutely have to order are crispy Fried Potato Wedges With Skin. Addictive to say the least. You’ll throw away any McDonald’s french fries. And they’re some of the most convincing so far.

You have then got the tough choice between a variety of burgers with ginger detox, Chinese vinegar, ume (Japanese abricot) or miso (fermented soybeans) sauce.

You can’t get enough of these sauces. They’re rich, they’re intriguing – and they’re healthy. With health being the main concept of R Burger, a trendy new burger chain – with so far only two branches in Japan, one in Roppongi, the other in Prantan Ginza.

Try the Koruzo Burger with its darkish bun due to Japanese bamboo carbon …

Or just take their Avocado Salad Dog. A hot dog with no meat, but avocado. Eat and feel refreshed. R Burger’s refined fast food makes it that easy. Even though the hot dogs are not that tantalizing as the exciting burgers.

I still prefer the overall taste of MOS’ burgers. R Burger though is a convincing alternative – especially for the fried potato wedges. Or if you’re into burgers with mint-like shiso leafs and wasabe cream …

Pay a visit. Don’t think twice.

Nasty stuff, like eating chopped yard grass with soggy croutons … avoid.

MOS Burger isn’t so great either, they put plastic filler in their meat to make you full.
