The kilogram of onions was 30 baht. Last year? 16 baht. A nearly 200% price increase.

Hmm, does this not correspond to a 100% price increase?

(BD: Thanks mart, typo, corrected.)

I don't drive a car in Bangkok, so my condolences to you in your supermarket rallies, which I heartily avoid, as I have learnt you can judge a persons true character by how they drive a car or a supermarket trolley. I find it hard to not cause a triage on even the briefest Thai supermaket visit. This is one area where I happily advocate an immediate depression of the Thai economy even if it lowers the chance of meeting mall trolls with carts in the malls by 10 percent. The object of your study reveals the obvious: shop from different sources, and the talaad sot is still best value in Thailand. Also more chance the grower gets a fair share.
